Iwona Cholewa

Chief Investment Officer

With two decades of financial services experience, thorough knowledge of capital markets and investment management, Iwona’s passion is to enhance our clients’ financial life outcomes. She strongly believes in goals/values based investing and that financial goals and investments have to be aligned to ensure a better investment experience.

Prior to joining PowerHouse Assets, Iwona worked for 13 years at Dimensional Fund Advisors, a $600 billion mutual fund company, where she was a portfolio manager for global equity portfolios, including core strategies, small and small value, and strategies with social and sustainability overlays, across mutual funds and separate account and funds of funds. In this role, she was responsible for all aspects of portfolio management activities, including implementing fund strategies, order generation, managing daily cash flows, foreign currency management and trading, hedging foreign currency exposure, post-trade monitoring and performance attribution analysis. Later, as vice president at the firm, she consulted for advisors on capital market research, portfolio design and construction, and design of Dimensional’s investment strategies.

Iwona also spent spent five years as a portfolio manager for Montecito Bank & Trust in Santa Barbara, where she managed portfolios for high net worth families and the bank’s bond portfolio, and was responsible for multi-asset class mutual fund analytics, attribution, performance reporting, and peer universe comparisons at PlanMember Financial Corporation.

Iwona spearheaded Women’s Wealth Initiatives at Dimensional and has helped hundreds of advisors in sharing their insights on women and wealth with the overarching goal of understanding how to best serve women investors. In that role, she has hosted 20+ women & workshops and 40+ conversation circles for women. She has facilitated panels at the Invest in Women conferences about attracting women to the industry and having a Women’s Initiative. She presented at NAPFA, FPA and Dimensional conferences about building stronger relationships with female clients.

A CFA Charterholder, Iwona earned her MBA from the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles, and a BA in economics and business from Whittier College. She graduated at the top of her class in both undergraduate and graduate studies.

Outside of work, Iwona enjoys spending time with her family and going on cycling adventures.
